To install the APC XBP48RM2U-LI Smart-UPS On-Line External Battery Pack, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that you have read and understood the Important Safety Messages provided in the installation guide.
2. Adhere to all national and local electrical codes.
3. Find a suitable location for the battery pack. It should be installed indoors in a controlled environment, away from direct sunlight, fluids, excessive dust, or humidity. Allow adequate space for proper ventilation.
4. Always install the external battery pack at the bottom in rack-mount configurations. The UPS must be installed above the battery pack.
5. Verify the compatibility of the battery pack with your UPS model. The UPS should recognize the external battery pack when connected. Refer to the user documentation of your UPS model for information about the maximum number of battery packs that can be connected.
6. Before installing or replacing the batteries, remove any conductive jewelry such as chains, wristwatches, and rings. This is to prevent high energy through conductive materials that could cause severe burns.
7. Connect the battery cable securely to the battery receptacle on the rear panel of the battery pack. Use the supplied pan head xxxx to secure the battery connector.
8. Connect the communication cable from the battery pack to the UPS. Ensure that the connection is secure to avoid inaccurate runtime readings on the UPS display interface.
9. If you are installing multiple battery packs, connect them in series. Connect the battery cable of the second battery pack to the first battery pack, and connect the communication cable from the second battery pack to the first battery pack.
10. Secure the battery pack to the rack using the supplied ornamental screws. Install the UPS bezel if required.
11. Once the installation is complete, verify the successful installation by checking the UPS display interface. Perform a Visible Alarm Test to ensure that the battery pack is recognized by the UPS. The green LED on the battery pack should illuminate if successful communication has been established.
