To clean and maintain your SMARTCORE LX937-5108-SAMP Ultra XL Chadwick Oak Vinyl Plank flooring, follow these guidelines:
1. Post-Construction Maintenance: After construction or renovation, remove dust particulate by dry mopping the floor with a microfiber mop pad or appropriate floor vacuum. Then, use a neutral pH cleaner and a microfiber wet mop pad to mop the floor in sections. Rinse the floor with water only to remove any remaining residue.
2. Removing Construction Residue or Cloudy Film: Dry mop the floor to remove any construction dust or exterior soil. Spray a neutral pH cleaner onto the floor and clean it in sections. For smooth surfaces, use a low rpm buffer with a 3M red pad and neutral pH cleaner. For embossed or textured flooring, use a cylindrical brush scrubber with a neutral pH cleaner. Rinse the floor with water using a wet microfiber mop pad. Repeat if necessary.
3. Preventative Maintenance: Protect the floor from scratches and tears by using floor protectors when moving heavy objects. Avoid using tape directly on the surface of the flooring. Instead, adhere tape to the material used to protect the floor and secure it to the base molding. Use floor protectors under furniture and appliances to prevent indentations. Place chair pads under desk chairs and rolling chairs. Use walk-off mats at entrances, but avoid mats with latex or rubber backings directly on the floor. Avoid direct sunlight on the flooring and protect it with window coverings. Maintain surface temperatures between 55F and 155F.
4. Routine Maintenance: Daily removal of dirt and dust is important to prevent scratches. Sweep, dust mop, or vacuum the floor regularly. Use appropriate vinyl floor cleaning equipment and neutral pH floor cleaners for periodic wet cleaning. Avoid abrasive cleaners or cleaning agents that leave dull residues. Follow the cleaning manufacturer's instructions and expedite drying with air movers or fans. Use Shaw TOTALCARE® Hard Surface Cleaner or equivalent for general spot and cleaning. Avoid using mop and shine products.
5. Spot and Spill Removal: Absorb wet spills promptly by blotting with paper or cloth towels. Rinse with water if necessary and blot dry. Remove dried spots by gentle agitation and rinsing with water. Use Shaw TOTALCARE® Hard Surface Cleaner or vinyl floor cleaning products. Do not use detergents or abrasive cleaners. For tough spots, use rubbing alcohol with a clean white cloth. Note that some stains may become permanent.
