To properly install the Tetra GELW4871-1 EdgeLine Cuttable Light Bar LED Lighting System, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the electrical wiring is prepared according to the provided safety instructions. The LED Driver should be grounded and bonded in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC) Article 600.
2. Make sure to follow all National Electric Codes (NEC) and local codes when installing the lighting system.
3. The Tetra GELW4871-1 EdgeLine Cuttable Light Bar LED Lighting System is only suitable for connection to a circuit from a Class 2 power source. It has not been evaluated for use with power sources that do not comply with Class 2 voltage and energy-limited supplies.
4. Before starting the installation, turn off the power to avoid the risk of electric shock. Properly ground the power supply enclosure.
5. Use only approved wire for input/output connections, with a minimum size of 18 AWG (0.82mm2). Follow all local codes and do not submerge the lighting system or use it in a marine environment.
6. If you are installing the LED retrofit kit, make sure you have knowledge of sign electrical systems. If you are not qualified, do not attempt the installation and contact a qualified electrician. Install the kit only in host signs that have been identified in the installation instructions and where the input rating of the retrofit kit does not exceed the input rating of the sign.
7. During the installation of the LED retrofit kit, be cautious of enclosed wiring and components to avoid damage. Do not make or alter any open holes in the enclosure of wiring or electrical components.
8. The Tetra GELW4871-1 EdgeLine Cuttable Light Bar LED Lighting System complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules and the Canadian standard ICES-005.
9. Gather all the necessary components and tools listed in the manual, including the Tetra EdgeLine Cuttable Light Bar, jumper cables, leader cables, mounting clips, self-tapping screws, connectors, supply wire, 24 Volt Power Supply, connector sealing cover, seal gasket and cap, and electrical grade silicone.
10. Follow the cable specifications and dimensions provided in the manual for planning the layout and determining the required quantity of light bars. If necessary, the light bar can be cut for a better fit, but only cut from the back to the front in perpendicular cuts.
11. Clean the cut end of the light bar, apply a brush-on conformal coating, and seal it with the provided seal gasket, cap, and electrical grade silicone.
12. Choose the appropriate mounting option (A or B) based on the provided instructions and secure the light bars using the mounting clips and self-tapping screws.
13. Make the electrical connections by mating the male and female connectors of each adjacent light bar, ensuring proper orientation and engagement of the retaining clip. Install an end cap into the open connector on the last light bar in the series.
14. Connect the leader cable to the first light bar in the run closest to the power supply.
15. Connect the power supply to the leader cable and the light bars, following the provided instructions for wire connections and using twist-on wire connectors. Ensure that all electrical connections are suitably protected and sealed with electrical grade RTV silicone in wet locations.
16. If you are retrofitting an existing sign, follow the additional instructions provided in the manual for surveying the site, removing existing lighting equipment, repairing openings in the electrical enclosure, and connecting the power supply.
