To install the GE current LED8DRS6-9SC LED Recessed Downlight, please follow these steps:
1. Before you begin, read the installation instructions completely and carefully.
2. Ensure that you have the necessary knowledge of luminaire electrical systems. If you are not qualified, do not attempt the installation and contact a qualified electrician.
3. Make sure the retrofit kit is compatible with the dimensions and input rating of your existing luminaire.
4. Do not make or alter any open holes in the enclosure of wiring or electrical components during the installation.
5. Protect the wiring from damage or abrasion by avoiding exposure to sharp objects or edges of sheet metal.
6. The retrofit kit must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable electrical codes.
7. Examine all parts that are not intended to be replaced by the retrofit kit for damage and replace any damaged parts before installation.
8. The minimum lamp compartment dimensions for this retrofit kit are 152.4 mm (dia) x 180 mm (h).
9. This retrofit kit is intended for use in Type IC or non-IC recessed mount Listed luminaires. Follow the instructions to remove the existing trim.
10. The product is suitable for use in dry or damp locations and is classified for fire and shock hazards only.
11. Ensure that the LED driver is supplied with 120 VAC 60 Hz.
12. Follow the grounding instructions in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC) Article 600 and local codes.
13. Before starting the installation, turn off the power at the source to the recessed housing(s) where you are installing the fixture(s).
14. Remove the existing trim and bulb to reveal the existing socket.
15. Determine the mounting method based on whether your housing has a torsion bracket or not.
16. For a housing with a torsion bracket, install the torsion springs provided for installation.
17. For a housing without a torsion bracket, install the flip clips provided for installation.
18. Adjust the color temperature to your desired setting.
19. xxxx the medium base socket adapter into the existing socket inside the housing.
20. Link the socket adapter to the matching connector clip attached to the fixture.
21. Finish the installation by following the specific instructions for your housing type.
22. For a housing with a torsion bracket, check that the torsion springs are firmly attached. Compress the torsion springs and insert them into the bracket inside the housing. Release the springs and gently push up until flush with the ceiling.
23. For a housing without a torsion bracket, check that the flip clips are firmly attached. Center the fixture in the housing opening and gently push up until flush with the ceiling.
24. Once the installation is complete, restore power to the lighting system.
