To obtain a clear sound when playing the BONTEMPI 31 3810 Recorder Baroque Fingering, follow these steps:
1. Warm the instrument: Before starting to play, warm the instrument by blowing into it long enough to make it lukewarm. This helps to avoid the formation of humidity on the inside.
2. Blow lightly: The recorder is not capable of sound intensity variations, so always make sure to blow into it lightly.
3. Position your fingers correctly: To obtain a clear sound, position your fingers correctly to cover the holes. Use the fleshy parts of your fingers, not the joints or tips. Each finger has a hole to cover, except for the little finger which is never used.
4. Tongue placement: To emit a sound, place your tongue at the base of the upper row of teeth and blow, softly pronouncing the syllables "Tu" or "Du".
5. Thumb positioning for high pitched sounds: The accuracy of the high pitched sounds depends on the hole covered by the thumb of the left hand. For the clearest sounds, uncover the hole 1/3 or a 1/4 of the way and blow a little harder.
Note: If two finger positions are shown, the left one is the most commonly used, and the other is merely an alternative.
Please refer to the BONTEMPI 31 3810 Recorder Baroque Fingering Instruction Manual for more detailed instructions and illustrations on finger positions and playing techniques.
Additionally, it is important to clean and care for your instrument properly. After use, clean the inside of the instrument with a cloth placed at the top of the cleaning rod provided. Blow hard into the mouthpiece to unclog the groove of the lip slit. Make sure the mouthpiece is always kept clean and prevent saliva from penetrating the instrument, as this could result in a sharp raucous sound.
