Sure! Here are the step-by-step instructions for installing the DAVEY DEP Series Fiberglass Media Filter:
1. Choose a suitable location: The filter should be placed in a permanent location as close to the pool as possible. It should be placed on a level concrete slab or similar base with dimensions of at least 900mm x 600mm (3' x 2'). Avoid using sand to level the concrete slab.
2. Protect from weather: While the filter tanks are made from UV-stabilized materials, it is recommended to protect the filtration system from the weather to ensure years of reliable service.
3. Assembly:
a. Undo the V-band clamp or flange nuts and remove the multiport valve.
b. Check inside the tank to ensure the laterals are secure inside the hub assembly and that the standpipe is inserted with the o-ring correctly into the under drain of the valve.
c. Half-fill the tank with water to provide a cushion for the media.
d. Make sure the under drain assembly is correctly located onto its stand at the base of the tank.
e. Place the sand guide in the top of the filter opening.
f. Pour the correct amount of media into the tank, evenly distributing it around the central pipe. Level out the top of the media bed.
g. Remove the sand guide and any traces of media from the tank flange.
h. Ensure the closure o-ring is clean and in the correct position. Apply a thin film of o-ring lubricant if necessary. Assemble the multiport valve to the tank, aligning the ports to the appropriate plumbing.
i. Connect the barrel unions using the supplied O-rings on fittings and xxxx them into the multiport valve body.
j. Connect the pressure gauge to the air bleed port using the supplied O-ring on the air bleed plug. Do not apply Teflon tape to the pressure gauge thread.
4. Pipe Connections: Use Teflon tape on all male threads. Piping should be independently supported and not impose heavy loads on the filter or pump. Use 40mm or 50mm (1.5" or 2") pipe for the connections.
5. Additional Cautionary Steps:
a. Install a non-return valve between the pump and pool on the inlet side.
b. If the waste line is more than 3 meters below the pool water level and more than 12 meters in length, fit a vacuum break valve in the waste line close to the filter.
c. If an auxiliary pump is installed downstream of the filter, ensure it is protected against causing negative pressure in the filter tank.
d. If the pump and filter are located below the pool water level, fit isolating valves in the pipe between the pump and the skimmer box and in the return pipe from the multiport valve to the pool to prevent water draining from the pool during maintenance.
Please note that failure to comply with the cautionary steps may result in filter damage not covered by the guarantee.
