To install the Lenovo ThinkSystem RAID 540-16i PCIe Gen4 12Gb Adapter, follow these steps:
1. Unpack the adapter and inspect it for any damage. If there is any damage, contact Lenovo or your reseller support representative.
2. Turn off the power to your system and disconnect the AC power cord. Remove the computer cover according to the system documentation.
3. Review the adapter connectors and check the mounting bracket on the adapter. If necessary, replace the full-profile mounting bracket with the low-profile bracket provided.
4. Insert the adapter into an available PCIe slot. Align the adapter's PCIe bus connector with the slot and press down gently but firmly to ensure it is seated correctly. Secure the bracket to the computer chassis with the bracket xxxx .
5. Configure and install the SAS and SATA devices in the host computer case. Refer to the documentation for the devices for any preinstallation configuration requirements.
6. Connect the adapter to the devices using the appropriate cable. Connect one end of the cable to the adapter and the other end to the backplane connector. The maximum cable length is 1 meter (39.37 in.).
7. Provide the required airflow for the installed adapter.
