To install the SMART CHOICE 5304490733 4 Feet Gas Range Connector, follow these steps:
1. Clean the pipe threads: Before installation, make sure to clean the pipe threads. Then, apply pipe thread sealant to the male pipe threads. Note that you should not use sealant on flare fitting ends, as this can prevent a good seal.
2. Shape the connector: Form the connector into the desired installation shape, while avoiding sharp or repeated bending.
3. Connect the fittings: Wrench-tighten the brass Safety+PLUS valve fitting to the manual shut-off valve and the steel flare union fitting to the appliance pressure regulator. Use a second wrench to stabilize the shut-off valve and regulator during tightening.
Important: Do not connect the Safety+PLUS valve fitting directly to the appliance pressure regulator. If installed at the appliance regulator, the Safety+PLUS valve fitting will not operate properly and will not respond to excess gas flow.
4. Secure the connector nuts: Wrench-tighten the captive connector nuts to the Safety+PLUS valve fitting and steel fitting. Use a second wrench to stabilize the shut-off valve.
Important: Do not turn on the appliance until all connections are leak tested. Do not use a flame or another source of ignition to test for leaks.
5. Leak testing: Turn on the gas supply and test all connections for leaks using the included leak detector solution. If bubbles appear, it indicates a leak. In case of a leak, turn off the gas and tighten the connection further. Then, test the connections for leaks again.
