To update the firmware on the FREE THE TONE PA-1QG, PA-1QB, PA-1QA Programmable Analog 10 Band EQ, please follow the steps outlined in the user manual:
1. Confirm the Firmware Version:
- Turn on the power to the PA-1Q series.
- Look at the LEVEL display on the top panel and note the version information shown just after powering up.
- Turn off the power to the PA-1Q series.
- If the version number of the firmware to be downloaded from the Free The Tone website is larger than the one you saw on your PA-1Q series' display, proceed to the update steps.
2. Preparation of Computer and MIDI Interface:
- Prepare a PC (Windows) or Mac (Macintosh) computer and a MIDI interface.
- Connect the computer and the MIDI interface.
- Download the MIDI interface driver and make data transmission ready. Refer to the MIDI interface's operation manual for setup procedures.
3. Download the Latest Firmware for PA-1Q series:
- From the Free The Tone's website (https://www.freethetone.com/en/suppor...), download the latest firmware file for the PA-1Q series (PA-1Q*Y_FIRMWARE_V**.ZIP) and unzip it.
- Write down the name (ex: FIRMWARE) for the download destination folder in which you save the file.
4. Download and Installation of MIDI Software:
- For Mac Computer:
- Download the freeware "SysEx Librarian" from http://snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/ and save it in any folder.
- Unzip the downloaded ZIP file and install it.
- Start SysEx Librarian and configure it by selecting the MIDI interface to be used.
- Select the latest firmware file you've downloaded and connect the PA-1Q series' MIDI IN terminal to the MIDI interface's MIDI OUT terminal.
- Start data transmission by clicking the "Play" button in SysEx Librarian. The firmware update will be completed when the LEVEL display counts up to "100" and stops.
- For Windows Computer:
- Download the shareware "SendSx" from http://www.bome.com/products/sendsx and save it in any folder.
- Unzip the downloaded ZIP file and install it.
- Start SendSx and configure it by selecting the MIDI interface to be used.
- Select the firmware file you've downloaded and connect the PA-1Q series' MIDI IN terminal to the MIDI interface's MIDI OUT terminal.
- Start data transmission by clicking the "Send(F4)" button in SendSx. The firmware update will be completed when the LEVEL display counts up to "100" and stops.
Note: It is important not to turn off the power to the PA-1Q series during the firmware update process.
