To clean and maintain your TECHNIVORM Moccamaster Thermo Serve coffee maker, follow these steps:
1. Basic Cleaning:
- Disconnect the machine from the power source.
- Use a damp cloth (not wet) to clean the surface of the machine. Do not immerse the machine in liquid.
- Wash other removable parts such as carafes, lids, and filter cones in the normal way.
2. Descaling:
- Regular descaling is important to prevent mineral buildup and ensure optimal performance.
- Unscrew the drainage plug under the lid of the cold water container and turn the machine upside down to drain any residual water from the boiler.
- Fill the container with the correctly diluted descaler.
- Do not switch the machine on, but allow the descaler to gravity feed into the boiler. The foaming reaction between the scale and descaler will force the descaler through the system.
- Depending on the amount of scale, the descaling process may take some time. The machine will descale itself, so you don't need to stand over it.
- After descaling, boil at least three carafes of water through the machine to remove any traces of descaling agent.
3. Protection from Frost:
- If you live in an area with freezing temperatures, take precautions to protect the machine from frost.
- Unplug the machine from the power source.
- Unscrew the drainage plug under the lid of the cold water container and turn the machine upside down to remove any residual water.
- Before using the machine again, replace and tighten the drainage plug.
