To perform a self-test on the CHAUVIN ARNOUX C.A 742 Voltage Detector, follow these steps:
1. Connect the red test probe to the + terminal and the black lead to the COM terminal.
2. Touch the two test probes together and press the AUTO TEST button. Hold the button for as long as necessary.
3. If all of the indicators on the device, except the ELV light, and the audible signal sound, the device is working properly and can be used.
4. If every other indicator lights, the batteries need to be replaced.
5. If every third indicator is off, check that the leads and test probes are correctly connected and actually touching, then press the AUTO TEST button again.
6. If the problem persists, replace the batteries and try again. If the problem still persists, the lead and/or test probes may need to be replaced.
7. If no indicator lights, replace the batteries. If the problem persists with new batteries, the device is defective and should be sent in for repair.
It is important to perform a self-test before each use to ensure the proper operation of the device.
