To install the low sound compressor blanket for the Carrier 38APS025-065 unit, follow these steps:
1. Open and tag all disconnect locations to alert others not to restore power until work is completed.
2. Remove the access panel, if applicable. The 38APS, APD025-030, and 30RAP011-030 units have one compressor access panel with one latch at the top of the panel. The 38APD040-060 and 30RAP035-060 units have 2 compressor access panels with one latch at the top of each panel. The 38APS040,050 units have one compressor access panel with 2 latches at the top of the panel.
3. Wrap the sound blanket around the compressor in a counterclockwise direction for 30RAP011,016 units, and in a clockwise direction for all other units.
4. Align the slots in the blanket with the suction tube on the compressor.
5. Secure the blanket near the suction tube with the hook and loop strips.
6. Wrap the blanket around the compressor terminal box.
7. Attach the hook and loop strip on the vertical seam to secure the blanket to the compressor.
8. Return the control box to its original position and tighten the control box retaining screws for 30MP040,045 units.
9. Attach the top flap of the blanket with the hook and loop strip while aligning the discharge opening with the discharge line.
10. Depending on the unit model, route the wires through the top cover seam or under the blanket. For 30MP016 units with compressor insulation, cut out the sound blanket around the compressor terminal box.
11. Install the sound blanket cap for 30RAP100-150 units by aligning the discharge opening with the discharge line and attaching the cap with the hook and loop strip to the sound blanket.
12. Repeat steps 3 to 11 for the installation of the sound blanket to all compressors.
13. Replace the access panel by reversing the procedure in step 2, if necessary.
14. Restore power.
