To install the on your wheelchair, follow these steps:
1. Start by ensuring that all parts are free from shipping damage. If you notice any damage, contact Spex or your supplier for further instructions.
2. It is recommended to consult with a clinician such as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist who is skilled in wheelchair seating and positioning to determine if the Spex Head Support is appropriate for you.
3. Before installation, read the entire manual and save it for future reference. Pay special attention to the Transit Safety section if you plan to use the cushion in a vehicle.
4. The Head Support should be installed on a strong and rigid mounting surface. The Spex Head Support can be installed on other wheelchair back supports, but ensure that the mounting surface is suitable for effective installation and ongoing use.
5. Use the provided 4mm Hex Key to xxxx the mounting block directly to the back support using the M6 x 25mm screws and washers. Tighten the screws securely.
6. Use the 3mm Hex Key to xxxx the Stylo directly to the headrest using the M5 x 10mm screws. Tighten the screws securely.
7. Attach the ball to the mechanism by loosening both bolts in the top clamp. Insert the ball on the headrest into the socket and partly tighten the bolts on the top clamp. The headrest should be able to move but not be loose. Position the headrest correctly and securely tighten the bolts using a 5mm Hex Key.
8. Insert the stem into the mounting block, ensuring that the xxxx on the ball is facing towards the back support.
9. Adjust the stem height by loosening the grub xxxx in the 'Drop Stopper' using a 3mm Hex Key. Unwind the clamp lever on the mounting block and shift the stem up or down to the desired position. Tighten the clamp lever to secure. Finally, tighten the grub xxxx in the 'Drop Stopper' to fix the stem height when taking the Head Support on and off the wheelchair.
10. Adjust the horizontal, lateral, and angle positions of the Head Support by loosening the 5mm Hex Key compatible bolts on the positioning mechanism. Move the Head Support Pad to the correct position and securely tighten the bolts.
11. If your Head Support is equipped with a flip-back feature, grip the red collar and pull up to release the head support pad. Carefully lift the head support pad away.
12. If your Head Support has adjustable lateral wings, use the 5mm Hex Key and 10mm Spanner to adjust the height, width, angle, and forward/back position of each lateral pad as needed. Tighten all nuts and screws securely.
Please note that these instructions are a summary of the installation process. For more detailed instructions and illustrations, refer to the Spex Head Support Installation Guide provided with the product.
