To install the Westinghouse 73086-2848 42 Inch Longwood CCT Ceiling Fan, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that you have all the necessary tools, including a Phillips screwdriver, wire cutters, pliers, and a step ladder.
2. Before beginning the installation, read all the instructions provided in the owner's manual.
3. Make sure to turn off the power at the fuse box to avoid any electrical shock.
4. Unpack and inspect the fan to ensure that all the contents are included.
5. If applicable, remove the mounting bracket from the canopy by loosening the screws at the bottom of the canopy.
6. For normal ceilings, drill four mounting holes in the ceiling joist and securely xxxx the mounting bracket to the ceiling using the washers and wood screws provided. The mounting plate should be able to hold a weight of at least 35 lbs (15.9 kgs).
7. If you have a solid wood construction ceiling, follow the additional steps provided in the manual for concrete ceiling installation.
8. Once the mounting bracket is securely installed, proceed with the wiring options as shown in the wiring diagram provided in the manual.
9. If you are using a downrod, remove the clamp pin and cross pin from the downrod. Loosen the set xxxx in the downrod ball until the ball moves easily up and down the downrod. Slide the downrod ball off the downrod and thread the lead wires and plug through the downrod assembly.
10. Insert the downrod into the downrod coupling, ensuring that the hole in the downrod aligns with the hole in the coupling. Install the yoke cross pin through the yoke and downrod and tighten the set screws in the coupling.
11. Attach the blade assembly to the DC motor using the motor screws provided and tighten them securely.
12. Mount the fan assembly onto the mounting bracket, ensuring that the notch on the downrod ball engages the ridge on the mounting bracket.
13. Connect the wiring from the fan to the terminal block on the mounting bracket according to the wiring diagram provided.
14. Secure the fan to the ceiling by tightening the screws on the bottom of the mounting bracket.
15. Install the light fixture by aligning the indentations on the lampshade with the protrusions from the light kit. Lift the lampshade up and twist it clockwise to lock it into place.
16. Mount the transmitter holder onto the wall and place the transmitter into the holder.
17. Restore electrical power to the outlet box by turning on the electricity at the main fuse box.
18. Install two AAA 1.5V batteries in the transmitter by removing the battery cover on the back of the transmitter, installing the batteries, and replacing the cover.
19. Follow the instructions in the manual to operate your ceiling fan, including the different speed settings for warm and cool weather.
20. Regularly maintain and clean your fan to ensure its optimal performance and appearance. Avoid using water and only use a soft brush or lint-free cloth to clean the fan.
