The RF Silencers on the Mercury3.0 USB cable are designed to reduce the negative impact of radio frequencies on the sonic performance of the cable. USB cables can pick up and radiate radio frequencies, which can introduce noise and interference into the audio signal. The Mercury3.0 cable comes with three sets of RF Silencers, with the two outer ones best located at each respective end. The custom-designed metal oxide ceramic RF Silencers offer different permeabilities, making them incredibly effective over a wide frequency range. The central third Silencer can be adjusted to attain optimal sonic performance. It is recommended to initially set the three RF Silencers to the 'Golden Ratio', with the shorter section closer to the USB 'B' connector. Adjusting the RF Silencers can help improve the overall audio quality when using the cable.
