To install the PPE 228053000 Heavy-Duty Cast Aluminum Transmission Pan, please follow the steps below:
Step 1: Ensure that the vehicle is turned off and the engine is cool before starting the installation process.
Step 2: Remove the crossmember. If your vehicle has a crossover exhaust pipe, you will need to remove the bolts holding the catalytic converters to the exhaust manifolds and lower the exhaust to provide enough clearance for the new transmission pan.
Step 3: Loosen the stock pan bolts to allow the fluid to drain. Make sure to recycle the fluid properly.
Step 4: Remove the stock pan, but retain the stock gasket and stock flange collars.
Step 5: Thoroughly clean the mating surface where the new transmission pan will be installed.
Step 6: Install the stock gasket on the PPE Transmission Pan flange. Tighten the filter screws if necessary.
Step 7: Mate the pan to the housing surface and install two bolts through the stock flange collars to hold the pan in place. Finger tight for now.
Step 8: Install the remaining bolts and stock flange collars. Check the stock gasket fitment.
Step 9: Tighten the bolts in a crossing pattern as shown in the manual. The final torque specification is 8-10 ft lbs.
Step 10: Reinstall the crossmember.
Step 11: Add the recommended fluid to the transmission. Start the engine and check for any leaks.
Please note that this installation guide is a summary of the steps provided in the manual. For more detailed instructions and illustrations, it is recommended to refer to the PPE 228053000 Heavy-Duty Cast Aluminum Transmission Pan Installation Guide.
