To install the Lowe's W11439180C Electric Downdraft Cooktop, follow these steps:
1. Gather the required tools and parts listed in the instruction manual, including a tape measure, screwdrivers, drill, level, and various screws and connectors.
2. Check local codes and ensure that you have the appropriate electrical supply. It is recommended to have a licensed electrical installer make the electrical connections.
3. Determine the location for the cooktop, ensuring that you have the necessary clearances and that the countertop opening dimensions meet the minimum requirements provided in the manual.
4. If your cabinet has drawers, they will need to be removed and replaced with drawer fronts on the front of the cabinet.
5. Avoid installing cabinet storage space directly above the cooktop to reduce the risk of burns or fire. If cabinet storage is provided, install a range hood or microwave hood combination that projects horizontally a minimum of 5 inches beyond the bottom cabinets.
6. Ensure that an undercounter built-in oven is not installed under this cooktop.
7. Install the venting system according to the provided guidelines. The cooktop must be exhausted outdoors unless using the Duct-Free Filter Accessory Kit.
8. Calculate the length of the vent system by adding the equivalent feet for each vent piece used in the system.
9. Make the electrical connection by following the instructions provided for your specific electrical connection type. Ensure that the cooktop is properly grounded and that the electrical connection and wire size comply with local codes and standards.
10. Prepare the cooktop by removing it from the packaging and attaching the plenum and downdraft motor assembly.
11. Install the foam strip adhesive-side down around the bottom of the cooktop to keep the underside of the glass free from debris and help the cooktop sit flat on uneven counters.
12. Lift the cooktop with the help of two or more people and install it into the countertop cutout. Rotate the motor to align with the ductwork and tighten the screws to secure the cooktop.
13. Install the grease filter and vent grille.
14. Reconnect the power and check that all parts are properly installed. Clean the cooktop before use.
