To install the Westinghouse W-476 Mini-Pendant Kit, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the electricity to the wires you are working on is shut off by removing the fuse or shutting off the circuit breaker.
2. Do not hang the fixture on house electrical wires or install it on a ceiling with a radiant type heating system.
3. Read the instructions carefully. If you are unsure about any step, consult a qualified electrician.
4. The fixture is warranted against defects in material and workmanship for a period of five years from the purchase date. This warranty does not cover damages caused by acts of nature, abuse, improper installation, surges in electric current, or acts of third parties. If the product fails for any reason covered by this warranty, contact Westinghouse Lighting.
5. Important: Do not attach the fixture directly to the outlet box.
6. Thread the mounting xxxx (A) into the matching hole of the cross bar (B).
7. Secure the cross bar (B) to the outlet box with outlet box screws (C) (not provided).
8. Select the number of stems (H) to install based on the desired fixture length, then connect the stems (H) if applicable.
9. Thread the fixture wires up through the stem(s) (H), coupling (K), and canopy (D) if applicable.
10. Thread the stem(s) (H) into the shade assembly (J) and into the coupling (K) if applicable.
11. Grounding and wiring instructions:
- Wrap the grounding wire (F) from the fixture around the green grounding xxxx (G). Leave enough excess wire.
- Connect the excess grounding wire (F) from the fixture with the grounding wire (I) from the outlet box using a wire connector (L). Wrap the wire connector (L) with electrical tape for a secure connection.
- Connect the black wire from the fixture with the black wire (live wire) from the outlet box using a wire connector (L). Wrap the wire connector (L) with electrical tape for a secure connection.
- Connect the white wire from the fixture with the white wire (neutral wire) from the outlet box using a wire connector (L). Wrap the wire connector (L) with electrical tape for a secure connection.
- Tighten the grounding xxxx (G) without over-tightening.
12. After the wires are connected, carefully tuck them inside the outlet box. Raise the canopy (D) to allow the mounting xxxx (A) to protrude through the hole in the canopy (D), and secure it with the ball nut (E).
13. Install the lamp, ensuring not to exceed the maximum capacity recommended on the socket.
14. To clean the fixture, wipe it with a soft cloth. Clean the glass with mild soap. Do not use abrasive materials such as scouring pads or powders, steel wool, or abrasive paper.
