To replace the printhead in your ZEBRA ZT231 printer using the Printhead Maintenance Kit, follow these steps:
1. Prepare for Installation:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
- Disconnect all data cables.
- Open the media cover.
- Remove the media and ribbon (if used).
2. Replace the Printhead:
- Connect yourself to an antistatic device.
- Slide the printhead latch forward to the unlocked position.
- Release the printhead assembly.
- As the printhead lever rotates upward, the printhead assembly pivots upward.
- Pull the printhead from the upper print mechanism.
- Disconnect the printhead cable from the old printhead.
- Connect the printhead cable to the new printhead.
- Slide the printhead into the print mechanism, ensuring that the printhead locking posts go into the printhead latch holes.
- While holding the printhead in place, slide the printhead latch back to the locked position.
- Clean the printhead by wiping the print elements (gray strip) from end to end using the swab from the Preventive Maintenance Kit (or use a lint-free cloth dipped in 99.7% isopropyl alcohol).
- Allow the solvent to evaporate.
3. Resume Printer Operation:
- Reinstall the media and ribbon (if used).
- Close the printhead assembly.
- Close the media cover.
- Reconnect the AC power cord and interface cables.
- Turn on the printer power.
Please note that it is important to observe proper electrostatic safety precautions when handling static-sensitive components such as circuit boards and printheads. Also, make sure to retain all parts removed during disassembly unless otherwise directed.
