To connect your loudspeakers to the McIntosh MI1250 Channel Digital Amplifier, follow these steps:
1. Make sure you have a single loudspeaker with an 8 Ohm or 4 Ohm impedance.
2. Use a loudspeaker hookup cable with the largest wire thickness that will physically fit in your application. Refer to the Loudspeaker Cable Distance vs Wire Gauge Guide in the manual for guidance on wire thickness based on the distance between the amplifier and the loudspeaker.
3. Carefully remove sufficient insulation from the cable ends and twist the strands together tightly if the cable is stranded.
4. Adjust the top screws of the Loudspeaker Connection Plug to provide a sufficient opening size for the bare wire.
5. Insert the bare wire end of the loudspeaker hookup cable into the Connection Plug opening, ensuring that the insulation is flush with the plug opening.
6. Rotate the top screws to secure the hookup cable with the plug.
7. Repeat the above steps for the remaining loudspeaker connection plugs and hookup cables.
8. Connect the loudspeaker connection plugs to the appropriate MI1250 Rear Panel Chassis Loudspeaker Sockets, matching the negative and positive connections.
9. Ensure that all connections are secure.
10. Repeat the above steps for each loudspeaker you want to connect.
Note: The MI1250 mutes the speaker output for approximately two seconds when first turned on. If the channels overheat, the protection circuits will activate and the audio will be muted. Make sure to provide proper ventilation and use loudspeakers with the correct impedance to prevent overheating.
