In the event of a refrigerant leak in the HITACHI R32 Refrigerant air conditioner, it is important to follow the recommended procedures outlined in the instruction manual. Here are the steps to handle a refrigerant leak:
1. Safety Precautions: Ensure that there are no ignition sources nearby and remove any open flames or operating gas appliances or electric heaters from the room.
2. Detection: Use an appropriate refrigerant detector to check for the presence of a potentially flammable atmosphere before and during work.
3. Leak Repair: If a leak is detected, do not disconnect the pipe connection after checking the leak as it may cause refrigerant leakage. Instead, recover all refrigerant from the system or isolate the part of the system remote from the leak using shut-off valves.
4. Purging: Purge the system with oxygen-free nitrogen (OFN) before and during the brazing process to ensure the removal of any remaining refrigerant.
5. Flushing: Flush the system with OFN to render it safe. This process should be repeated several times until no refrigerant is left within the system. Do not use compressed air or oxygen for flushing.
6. Charging: When charging the system with refrigerant, ensure that contamination of different refrigerants does not occur. Keep hoses or lines as short as possible to minimize the amount of refrigerant contained in them. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for charging and do not overfill the system.
7. Labeling: Properly label the equipment to indicate that it contains flammable refrigerant and has been decommissioned or emptied of refrigerant. Include the date and signature on the label.
