To install the ThermaSol OSS-SB Wall Mount Commercial Steam Head, follow these steps:
1. Before starting any work, make sure to turn off the power and water to the product. Also, ensure that the plumbing is cool enough to work on.
2. Use a 7/8" cutting tool to drill a hole in the shower wall or wall above the bathtub for the steam outlet line. Refer to figure 3A in the installation guide for the proper location of the hole. The steam head should be located 12"-16" from the steam room floor and 6" maximum from the steam room corner. It should also be placed as far away from the controller and bather as possible.
3. Connect a 1/2" F.I.P. copper pipe or copper tubing and a 1/2" brass union onto the steam outlet. Run a 1/2" copper pipe from the union to the 7/8" hole in the wall. Do not use galvanized pipe.
4. Attach the steam head and escutcheon to the copper pipe. It is important to seal the steam head to the wall to create a vapor barrier and prevent water from getting into the shower walls.
5. Do not obstruct the steam line with any shut-off valves, plugs, or caps. Steam generators are designed to build no pressure. The steam line can run up, down, or horizontally, but it cannot run down and then up as it will create a steam trap at the low point, blocking the flow of steam.
6. If the piping run exceeds 10 feet or is exposed to cold areas, insulate the steam outlet piping using steam-rated insulation with a minimum temperature rating of 225°F.
7. Once the installation is complete, you may turn the power back on.
Important Note: Avoid direct contact with the steam head and the steam coming out of it as they are extremely hot and can cause burns.
