The installation process for the HITACHI Duct EZY 8/11 Ducted Split Systems involves several steps. Here is a step-by-step guide based on the provided manual:
1. Plan the installation: Determine the position for the supply and return air grilles, considering the layout of your home or office. Ensure there is a way to access the ceiling space for existing buildings with fixed ceilings.
2. Install the return air grille: Cut a hole in the ceiling according to the size specified in the manual for your specific model. Frame out the hole to provide a fixing surface for the grille.
3. Mount the indoor unit: Read the instructions provided with the indoor unit. You can either hang the unit from the ceiling structure using hanger brackets and rods or place it on a level platform over ceiling joists. Securely attach the supply and return plenums to the indoor unit using screws and seal the joint with duct tape.
4. Install the supply air diffusers: Mark the position of the supply diffusers and cut out the appropriate holes using the templates provided. Stretch out the flexible supply duct and put it through the cut holes. Tape the duct to the supply diffuser inlets. Push the supply diffusers into the cut holes and ensure the latches snap into place.
5. Install the return air grille: Fix the return air plenum to the indoor unit using screws and seal the joint with duct tape. Attach the 350 dia. return air flexible duct to the return plenum and tape it on. Stretch out the flexible supply duct and tape it to the return grille spigots.
6. Complete the installation of the indoor and outdoor units: Follow the instructions provided with the indoor and outdoor units to run the drain pipe, attach interconnecting wires, and connect the pipe work between the units. Install the outdoor unit on suitable feet/pad and connect all wiring and piping as necessary.
7. Test and balance the system: Power up the system and let it sit for up to 4 hours to allow the compressor crankcase to come up to temperature. Start the unit and ensure it is running correctly in both heating and cooling modes. Balance airflow by opening or closing supply air grilles as required.
8. Provide user instructions: Explain the operation of the wall controller to the end user and leave the operation manual for their reference.
Maintenance: Every six months, replace or vacuum clean the return air filter. Wipe the supply air diffusers with a damp cloth or vacuum any dust accumulation.
