To install the LUTRON Claro Smart Switch for Caseta Smart Lighting in a 3-way wiring configuration with a dimmer, follow these steps:
1. Before disconnecting the existing devices, tag the wire connected to the different colored xxxx (typically black, but wire colors vary, and labeled COM). This is the Common wire.
2. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker or fuse before installing to avoid any electrical shock hazards.
3. Ensure that the same wire connects to the blue wire at all locations.
4. The main dimmer can be placed in any location.
5. When using an accessory switch with a dimmer, the black and red wires are reversible.

Please note that it is important to install the switch in accordance with all national and local electrical codes. If there is no grounding means in the wallbox, you can use a plastic faceplate with plastic fasteners or protect the circuit with a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). Lutron wallplates meet this requirement. Additionally, make sure to cap or remove the green wire before screwing the control into the wallbox.
