Cleaning the Guardian Technologies H980W humidifier is important to maintain its performance and prevent the buildup of mineral deposits. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to clean the humidifier:
1. Unplug the unit before cleaning.
2. Remove the lid and empty the water tank by pouring out all the water.
3. Clean the inside of the tank with fresh water and a soft cloth or the provided cleaning brush. Do not use detergents or cleaning chemicals.
4. Wipe the lid and surface of the unit with a soft, damp cloth if needed.
5. If there is scale buildup on the ultrasonic disk, gently clean it using the enclosed cleaning brush. Do not scrub or scrape the disk.
6. If scale is difficult to remove, fill the tank with a mixture of 1 teaspoon of white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of water. Let the solution stand for 5 minutes, then clean all interior surfaces with a soft cloth or brush to help remove scale. Rinse the tank thoroughly with water to remove any vinegar residue.
7. Also, check the mist nozzle and mist tube in the water tank and clean them as needed.
8. Dry the humidifier completely before storing. Do not store it with water inside the base or water tank.
9. If you live in a hard water area, it is recommended to use distilled water in the humidifier to reduce the buildup of minerals or "white dust."
