To install the HINKLEY 83527 Pendant Light, follow these steps:
1. Shut off the electrical current before starting the installation. If the fixture you are replacing is controlled by a wall switch, turn the switch off. If not, remove the appropriate fuse or open the circuit breakers until the fixture is dead.
2. Fasten the mounting strap (1) to the outlet box (A) using two 8-32 screws (2). These screws are not provided, so you will need to obtain them separately.
3. Thread two hex nuts (3a) and (3b) onto the threaded tubing (4). Thread one end of the threaded tubing into the loop (5) a minimum of 1/2'' to 3/4''. Tighten hex nut (3a) against the loop to lock it in position.
4. Thread the other end of the threaded tube into the mounting strap, approximately 1/2''.
5. Slip the canopy (B) over the loop (5) and adjust the height of the loop so that half of the threaded area on the loop is exposed. After adjusting the loop height, tighten hex nut (3b) against the mounting strap to lock the loop and threaded tube in position.
6. Remove the mounting strap (1) from the junction box (A) and thread the third hex nut (3c) onto the end of the threaded tube (4) above the mounting strap. Tighten it against the mounting strap to lock the assembly in position.
7. Determine the length of chain required to hang the fixture and attach one end of the chain to the top loop of the fixture.
8. Slip the loop xxxx collar (6) and canopy (B) onto the chain.
9. Attach the other end of the chain to the loop (5). It is recommended to get assistance for this step as the fixture may be heavy and difficult to hold while attaching the chain.
10. Unwrap the fixture lead wire and ground wire and weave them up through the chain.
11. Slip the fixture lead wire and ground wire through the center hole in the loop (5).
12. Connect the ground wire to the mounting strap (1) using the green ground xxxx (GS).
13. Make electrical connections from the supply wire to the fixture lead wires. Refer to the wiring instructions provided in the manual (IS 18) and follow all necessary wiring connections.
14. Slip the canopy up to the ceiling and secure it by turning the threaded xxxx collar (6) onto the loop (5) and tighten it to secure the canopy to the ceiling.
Note: Quick connectors are used to secure the chain to the canopy, so no chain pliers are required for assembly.
