To install the Velleman K3512 Remote Controlled Car Alarm, follow these steps:
1. Mount the main unit underneath the dashboard, ensuring that the electric contacts are easily accessible for servicing. Use the stand-off nuts and bolts provided. If placing the PCB under the bonnet, use a watertight housing.
2. Mount the LED indicator in a prominent position above the dashboard or on top of the center of the facia panel. Drill an 8 mm hole and place the LED in it. Feed the wires to the main unit.
3. Mount the interior siren under the dashboard to provide audio indication and operate as an alarm. Ensure the location is not immediately obvious but produces a loud enough noise. Test the siren by connecting the red wire to the + terminal and the black wire to the - terminal of the battery. Note the warning about potential hearing damage.
4. Fit contact switches to protect the bonnet and boot. Drill a 7 mm hole and fix the adjustable gold-colored pressure switch to the bonnet. Drill a 6 mm hole and use an 11 mm socket spanner to xxxx the self-tapping pressure switch into place on the boot. Connect a wire to the plug underneath the contacts.
5. Fit the shock detector to the chassis in the passenger interior or in the boot. Ensure it makes good contact with the chassis or metalwork of the car. Do not fit the shock detector outside or underneath the bonnet as it is not watertight.
6. For the K3512 model, fit the IR receiver module using double-sided adhesive tape to the ceiling or underneath the dashboard. Ensure there is no direct sunlight on the sensor.
