To install and start up the Sensus 046 Field High Pressure Service Regulator, follow these steps:
1. Remove the shipping plugs from both the regulator inlet and outlet connections.
2. Ensure that the inside of the piping and the regulator inlet and outlet connections are clean and free of dirt, pipe dope, and other debris.
3. Use pipe joint material only on the male threads of the pipe being connected to the regulator. Do not use pipe joint material on the female threads of the regulator.
4. Install the regulator in the line, making sure that the gas flow through the regulator is in the direction indicated by the arrow on the regulator body. The regulator can be installed in any position: right side up, upside down, vertical piping, diagonal piping, etc. If needed, the diaphragm case can be rotated 360° in any number of increments. To rotate the diaphragm case assembly, loosen the coupling nut and retighten it to hold the diaphragm case assembly in the new position.
5. CAUTION: Turn on the gas very slowly, starting with the outlet stop valve if used. Avoid overloading the diaphragm with a sudden surge of inlet pressure. Monitor the outlet pressure during start-up to prevent an outlet pressure overload.
6. Make sure there are no leaks and that all connections are tight.
7. Adjust the set-point (outlet pressure) by turning the adjustment xxxx . Turn clockwise to increase and counterclockwise to decrease. After adjustment, tighten the nut. Only adjust the regulator when gas is flowing through it, not when it is closed.
8. CAUTION: It is the user's responsibility to ensure that all regulator vents and/or vent lines exhaust to a non-hazardous location away from any potential sources of ignition. For indoor installations, vent the regulator to the outside by running vent piping to a safe area.
9. For outdoor installations, it is recommended to install the regulator with the vent facing down to prevent water or foreign matter from entering the regulator.
10. For applications with combustible gas with a specific gravity greater than 1.0 (such as propane), vent the gas outdoors away from low areas and open flames.
11. Once installation is complete, make sure the regulator is free of leaks.
