To install the Clearwater Lights on your Honda Goldwing NT1100, follow the instructions provided in the instruction manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Park the motorcycle on hard pavement or concrete to ensure stability during installation. If possible, mount the bike on a stand with tie-down straps for added security.
2. Disconnect the battery following the manufacturer's guidelines to prevent damage to the electrical system.
3. Remove the left side panel, mirrors, and their respective covers. This will require removing the left saddlebag lid, left side cover, right side cover, seat, left rearview mirror, left mirror arm panel, right mirror arm panel, left deflector panel, left inner cowl, and left side panel. Refer to the manual for detailed instructions and diagrams.
4. Once the left side fairing has been removed, you can access the headlight connector and the location for mounting the harness. Mount the harness behind and above the headlight, along the centerline of the bike. Ensure that the wires are neatly dressed and secured with zip-ties away from pinch points and direct heat.
5. Route the power wires from the harness towards the battery following the specified path. You may use a wire pull tool to assist with this task.
6. To utilize the switched hot, highbeam, and horn functions of your Clearwater Lights, use the provided Posi-Taps to tap into the corresponding wires at the headlight connector and horn. Refer to the wiring diagram in the manual for an overview of the connections.
7. Mount the dimmer control and switch. Use the supplied L bracket, spacers, flat washer, and bolt stackup to mount the dimmer to the handlebar cluster. Route the wires from the lights and volume control xxxx along pre-existing wires. Mount the switch to the adjacent faster using the provided bolt and spacer.
8. Ensure that the dimmer and switch connections to the harness are securely fastened. The lights will not turn on without the switch connected.
9. Removal of the original mirror covers is required. Replace them with the modified ones included in the kit. Assemble the mirror mount and modified cover, aligning them with the three fastener points. Refer to the exploded diagram in the manual for complete installation instructions.
10. Once the lights are mounted, adjust their angle for proper alignment. Use a level against the face of the light and have an assistant sit on the bike to help with the adjustment. The goal is to have the lights level with the ground. Further adjustments may be needed due to passengers or luggage. A slight downward angle (5 degrees) may be helpful.
11. During the installation, be careful not to kink, deform, or put pressure on the water sealing grommet to maintain its integrity.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed the Clearwater Lights on your Honda Goldwing NT1100. Enjoy your safer rides!
