To use the Rockler 56896 Small Cribbage Board Templates, follow the instructions provided in the manual. There are two drilling methods explained: the Standard Drilling Method and the Alternative Drilling Method.
For the Standard Drilling Method:
1. Hold or clamp the Template on your cribbage board workpiece, ensuring it is positioned as desired and properly aligned.
2. Chuck the included Self-Centering Bit in a handheld drill and drill the four holes outlined in red in Fig. 3.
3. Press the two included Indexing Pins in the indexing holes to hold the Template while you drill the holes outlined in red in Fig. 4.
4. Remove the Indexing Pins and shift the Template so that the two rearmost outside holes in the "Repeat" section of the template are over the previous indexing holes. Press the Indexing Pins in these holes and drill the four holes outlined in red in Fig. 5.
5. Move the Indexing Pins to the new indexing holes and drill the holes outlined in red in Fig. 6.
6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 three more times, drilling the holes outlined in red in Fig. 5 and Fig. 6.
7. Remove the Template and check that your board looks like the one shown in Fig. 7.
8. Install the Template so that its two rearmost outside holes are over the most recently drilled indexing holes. Press the Indexing Pins in these holes to hold the template; then drill the holes outlined in red in Fig. 8.
9. Move the Indexing Pins to the holes shown in Fig. 9 and drill the holes outlined in red.
10. Remove the Indexing Pins, shift the Template, and reinstall the Indexing Pins to hold the Template as you drill the two sets of Scoring Holes shown in Fig. 10.
11. Remove the Round Template and sand the board surface.
For the Alternative Drilling Method:
1. Hold or clamp the Template on your cribbage board workpiece, ensuring it is positioned as desired and properly aligned.
2. Chuck the included Self-Centering Bit in a handheld drill and drill the seven holes outlined in red in Fig. 11.
3. Install the two included Indexing Pins in the holes shown in Fig. 12 to hold the Template while you drill the holes outlined in red.
4. Remove the Indexing Pins, shift the Template as shown in Fig. 13, and install the Indexing Pins as shown. Then drill the holes outlined in red.
5. Remove the Indexing Pins, reposition the Template farther down the board as shown in Fig. 14, and reinstall the Indexing Pins as shown. Drill the holes outlined in red.
6. Remove the Indexing Pins, shift the Template as shown in Fig. 15, and reinstall the Indexing Pins as shown. Then drill the holes outlined in red.
7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 four more times, drilling the holes outlined in red in Fig. 14 and Fig. 15.
8. Remove the Indexing Pins. At this point, your board should look like Fig. 16 if all holes have been drilled correctly.
9. Position the Template as shown in Fig. 17 and install the Indexing Pins as shown. Drill the holes outlined in red.
10. Remove the Indexing Pins, shift the Template as shown in Fig. 18, and reinstall the Indexing Pins as shown. Then drill the holes outlined in red. This completes the holes at this end of the board.
11. Remove the Indexing Pins, reposition the Template back at the end of the board where you started, as shown in Fig. 19, and reinstall the Indexing Pins as shown. Drill the final two holes outlined in red.
