1. Before You Begin:
- Turn off the electrical power at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
- If you are replacing an existing disposer, disconnect the sink drain and skip to Step 9. If there is no existing disposer, continue to Step 2.
2. Removal of old disposer:
- Turn off the electrical power at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
- Disconnect the drain trap from the waste discharge tube.
- Disconnect the dishwasher if it is connected to the disposer.
- Support the disposer, insert the end of the wrenchette into the right side of the mounting lug, and turn to remove the disposer.
- Flip the disposer over and remove the electrical cover plate. Save the cable connector if applicable.
- Disconnect the disposer wires from the electrical supply.
3. Install flange in sink hole:
- Remove the flange from the sink and remove any old plumber's putty from the sink with a putty knife.
- Apply a 1/2" thick rope of plumber's putty around the sink flange.
- Press the sink flange firmly into the sink drain and remove any excess putty.
4. Attach upper mounting assembly:
- Place a weight, such as the disposer, on the sink flange to hold it in place. Use a towel to avoid scratching the sink.
- Insert the fiber gasket, backup flange, and mounting ring. Hold them in place while inserting the snap ring. Pull the snap ring open and press firmly until it snaps into place.
- Tighten the three mounting screws evenly and firmly against the backup flange.
5. If NOT connecting a dishwasher, continue to step 16:
- Turn the disposer onto its side and knock out the drain plug with a screwdriver. Remove the plug from inside the disposer with pliers.
6. Connect disposer to electrical supply:
- Turn the disposer over and remove the electrical cover plate. Pull out the wires.
- Insert a cable connector (not included) and run the electrical cable through the access hole on the bottom of the disposer. Tighten the cable connector.
- This disposer requires a switch with a marked "Off" position (wired to disconnect all ungrounded supply conductors) installed within sight of the disposer sink opening. Connect the white wire from the disposer to the neutral (white) wire from the power source. Connect the black wire from the disposer to the hot (black, red) wire from the power source using wire nuts. Connect the ground wire to the green grounding xxxx .
7. Trim discharge tube (if necessary):
- You may need to trim the discharge tube to ensure a proper fit.
8. Connect disposer to mounting assembly with Lift & Latch:
- Lift the disposer from the bottom and hang it by aligning the three mounting tabs with the slide-up ramps on the mounting ring. Slightly turn the disposer clockwise.
- Turn the mounting ring until all three mounting tabs latch over the ridges on the slide-up ramps.
9. Reconnect plumbing:
- Insert the stopper into the sink opening. Fill the sink with water and test for leaks.
- Reconnect the electrical power at the fuse box or circuit breaker box.
