To set up a LevelSender 5 Telemetry System, follow these steps:
1. Gather the necessary equipment:
- LevelSender 5 (pt#115604 4G) for each monitoring site
- Solinst dataloggers (Levelogger 5 or Edge Series, LevelVent 5 or LevelVent)
- Splitter (pt#109700) if connecting two dataloggers to the same LevelSender 5
- Reader Cable (pt#112867) to connect each datalogger
- Direct Read Cable connected to each Levelogger/Barologger
- USB to USB-C Programming Cable (pt#115378) for use with LevelSender PC Software
- 4" Well Adaptor (pt#110235) if installing in a well larger than 2" OD
2. Ensure you have a cellular service plan:
- The LevelSender 5 uses a 4G LTE UE Category M1 device with low power consumption.
- You will need a monthly data plan with text messaging for data reports to be sent via email and optionally SMS.
3. Check the signal strength at your monitoring site:
- Use your cell phone to test the cellular signal strength.
- 3 to 4 bars on your phone indicate excellent signal strength.
- If the signal strength is less than 3 bars, consider moving the LevelSender 5 or using an alternate antenna.
4. Determine the battery replacement frequency:
- Replace LevelSender 5 batteries when the reported battery information is showing 60% or less.
- Battery percentage is sent with each report.
- Battery life estimates are provided based on sample rate, report rate, and number of loggers connected.
5. Set up unique, dedicated email addresses:
- Each LevelSender 5 requires a unique email address, and one for your Home Station PC.
- Multiple remote stations can report to one Home Station.
- Consider setting up a unique Gmail account for each LevelSender 5 using the serial number in the email address.
6. Understand how data is received and organized:
- Data can be accessed through LevelSender PC Software, email, text message, or FTP server.
- LevelSender PC Software allows viewing and exporting data as .xle or .csv files.
- .xle files for each Levelogger are automatically created on the Home Station PC.
- SQLite database is automatically created on the Home Station PC for querying and displaying data.
