To test the Trip Unit of the ATEK 140D481G0 Series Cutler Hammer using the Test Kit, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the breaker is not energized. Do not attempt to install or perform maintenance on the equipment while it is energized.
2. Connect the Test Kit to the corresponding port on the Test Kit Adapter.
3. Connect the Test Kit Adapter to the Trip Unit Test Port on the face of the Trip Unit.
4. Set the Test Kit controls as follows:
- TIMER ON/OFF switch to "OFF"
- HI/LO AMPS switch to "LO AMPS"
- CURRENT ADJUSTMENT to "ZERO"
5. Plug the Auxiliary Power Module (APM) and the Test Kit into a 120V, 60Hz power source.
6. Turn on the Test Kit by switching the POWER ON/OFF switch to "ON". The POWER ON/OFF pilot lamp should light up.
7. If the RESET pilot lamp is not lit, push the RESET button. The RESET pilot lamp should then light up.
8. Turn the TIMER ON/OFF switch to "ON". The timer should not run.
9. Push the TEST button. The TEST pilot lamp should light up, and the RESET pilot lamp should go out. The TIMER should start counting seconds.
10. Use the STOP switch to manually cut off the test current to the Trip Unit. The TIMER should stop, the RESET pilot lamp should light up, and the TEST pilot lamp should go out.
11. Push the manual RESET button on the timer to reset it to zero.
12. Hold the CALIB toggle switch in the "CALIB" position and turn the CURRENT ADJUSTMENT xxxx from zero to the maximum. The ammeter should read from zero to approximately 8 amperes.
13. Return the CURRENT ADJUSTMENT xxxx to "ZERO".
14. Repeat the above steps for specific tests such as checking Long Delay Pickup, Long Delay Time, Instantaneous function, Short Delay Pickup, Short Delay Time, Ground Fault Pickup, and Ground Delay Time. Refer to the manual for detailed instructions on each test.
