To achieve optimal performance, it is important to position the speakers correctly. Here are some guidelines:
1. Floor-mounted speakers (702 S3, 703 S3, 704 S3): Install the provided plinth for stability. Use the spike or rubber feet supplied to ensure the speakers stand firmly on the floor. The plinth must always be used, and rubber or spike feet should not be inserted directly into the cabinet.
2. Dedicated floor stand or shelf-mounted speakers (705 S3, 706 S3, 707 S3): The speakers are primarily designed to be mounted on a dedicated floor stand (FS-700 S3) but can be placed on a shelf if preferred. If using a shelf, ensure it is strong enough to support the weight and fit the four self-adhesive rubber feet to the underside of the speaker.
3. Center speaker (HTM71 S3, HTM72 S3): Position the speaker behind the center of the screen if using a projection television with an acoustically transparent screen. Otherwise, position it below or above the screen using a floor stand, furniture unit, or wall shelf. If placed on a shelf or in a rack, fix the four self-adhesive rubber feet to the base of the speaker for vibration isolation.
4. Speaker positioning: In stereo or home theater installations, try to ensure that the immediate surroundings of each speaker have a similar acoustic character. For stereo systems, position the speakers between 1.5m and 3m apart at two corners of an equilateral triangle completed by the listening area. For home theater systems, place the speakers closer together than for 2-channel audio, approximately 0.5m from the sides of the screen.
5. Stray magnetic fields: Keep magnetically sensitive articles (CRT television, computer screens, discs, tapes, swipe cards) at least 0.5m away from the speakers. LCD, OLED, and plasma screens are not affected by magnetic fields.
