To install the strings on the John Kovac 26 String 3.5 Octave Harpune Folk Harp Kit, please follow the instructions provided in the kit's installation directions. Here is a general overview of the string installation process:
1. Start by attaching the eyelets (brass grommets) to the harp body. Use a #44 gauge drill bit for the small grommets and a #32 gauge bit for the medium grommets.
2. Thread the nylon monofilament strings through the eyelets, starting with the lowest string (1 octave below Middle C) and progressing upwards.
3. Secure each string with a small plastic or wood bead, sized to fit the strings and knots.
4. Attach the guitar tuning machines to the harp body using the provided screws and grommets. There should be 13 tuning machines on each side of the harp (13L/13R).
5. Wind each string around its respective tuning machine, making sure to tighten the strings evenly.
6. Use the guitar string winder to help with the winding process and ensure proper tension.
7. Once all the strings are attached and wound, use an electronic note tuner (optional but highly recommended) to tune the harp. It is recommended to use the provided Middle C Finder instead of a piano for best results.
Please refer to the Harpune plans and installation directions included in the kit for more detailed instructions and diagrams.
