To connect the LDT 040113 Data Switch to your digital model railway, please follow these steps:
1. Before starting the installation, make sure to switch off the drive voltage by pushing the stop button or disconnecting the main supply from all transformers.
2. The LDT 040113 Data Switch contains three 6-pole pin-bars for the s88-standard connection and three RJ-45 sockets for a bus connection. The pin-bars and sockets are marked with "OUT" and "IN". "OUT" indicates the connection in the direction of the command station or interface, while "IN" indicates the connection to the next following feedback module within the s88-bus line.
3. For the s88-standard connection, use an interference-protected twisted s88-bus cable with original s88-bus plugs. Attach the plugs of the s88-bus cable correctly to the 6-pole pin-bar of the data switch. Ensure that the white single wire corresponds with the white marking on the pc-board next to the pin-bar. The direction of the cable should be away from the data switch. If you are using feedback modules with a ribbon cable, insert the plug so that the cable points away from the data switch. Pay attention to the position of the plugs on the 6-pole pin bars and ensure there is no offset.
4. For the s88-bus connection, you can use a screened blue patch cable with RJ-45 plugs. Do not connect the DSW-88-N to RJ-45 network sockets on command stations with PC-network connection.
5. Once the connections are made, you can set the number of feedback modules connected to each line using the rotary code switch located next to the RJ-45 socket and pin bar for the left s88-bus line. Access to the rotary code switch is possible by removing the cover of the data switch. The switch allows up to 15 modules for the left line, with numbers 1 to 9 shown on the switch with printed letters, followed by A to F. The exact allocation is printed on the board next to the code switch.
6. The command station or PC software will assign an individual address to each feedback module with 16 inputs, starting from the command station. The module with number 1 is always connected directly to the command station or interface, followed by subsequent modules.
7. Refer to the provided sample connections in the manual for further guidance and examples of different feedback system setups.
