To install the BRISTAN GRAB H RANGE White Hinged Grab Rail, follow these steps:
1. Remove all packaging and check the components for any damage.
2. Before drilling into walls, ensure there are no hidden electrical wires, cables, or water supply pipes. You can use an electronic detector to check.
3. If using power tools, remember to wear eye protection and unplug the equipment after use.
4. The rail does not come with fixings, so consult a fixing manufacturer to select the appropriate fixings for your wall substrate. You will need 6x 8mm fixings.
5. Offer the rail up to the wall at the desired height, ensuring the fixing plate is straight.
6. Mark the locations for the fixing holes.
7. Drill the holes in the wall with a diameter and depth recommended by the supplier of the wall fixings.
8. Secure the rail to the wall using the appropriate fixings.
9. Once installed, test the functionality of the hinged support rail by completing a number of cycles of operation. Ensure it is securely fitted to the wall.
10. To lower the rail, lift it up to unlock and then gently lower it down.
11. To raise the rail, slowly lift the arm up towards the wall until it locks into place.
Please note that if you are installing the rail in a care home or nursing environment, it must be installed according to DOC-M standards. Refer to the latest DOC-M guidelines on the gov.uk website before installation.
