To install the TRANE BAYCCHT300 OEM Crankcase Heater, please follow the steps outlined in the instruction manual:
1. Unpack all components of the kit and carefully inspect them for any shipping damage. If you find any damage, report it immediately and file a claim against the transportation company.
2. Make sure you have all the necessary parts listed in Table 1 of the manual.
3. Before starting the installation, it is important to be aware of the warnings, cautions, and notices provided in the manual. These include safety precautions, proper field wiring and grounding requirements, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
4. Ensure that you are familiar with the important environmental concerns and responsible refrigerant practices mentioned in the manual.
5. For the installation process, it is crucial to disconnect all electric power, including remote disconnects, and discharge all motor start/run capacitors before servicing. Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to prevent accidental energization of power.
6. Open and lock the unit disconnect to prevent electrical shock or contact with moving parts.
7. Remove the unit control and compressor access panel.
8. Place the crankcase heater band around the bottom of the compressor, within 1 inch of the base. Tighten the crankcase heater around the compressor and attach the green ground wire to the base. Torque the heater to 20 to 25 inch-pounds.
9. Attach the green ground wire to the compressor mount plate using the supplied 1/2-inch 10 to 16 thread sheet metal xxxx .
10. Route the black heater leads from the outdoor section into the control compartment. The compressor contactors are mounted side by side. Connect the wire leads from the crankcase heater mounted on compressor #1 to compressor #1 contactor. Connect the wire leads from the crankcase heater mounted on compressor #2 to compressor #2 contactor.
11. Refer to Figure 1 in the manual for the locations of the crankcase heater and connectors.
