To install the APPAREO 608065 Highly-Capable Rugged Telematics Gateway, follow these steps:
1. Find an installation location for the gateway that meets the specified requirements:
- Ensure the spacing requirements are met.
- Connectors should point downward or sideways/horizontal (not up).
- Avoid areas with moving parts or debris.
- Avoid high-temperature areas such as engine bays or near exhaust systems.
2. Find an installation location for the antennas that meet the specified requirements:
- Ensure the spacing requirements are met.
- The fins of the antennas should face upward.
- Antennas should have a line of sight to connect devices and the sky.
- Avoid mounting directly next to steel plates, tanks, or other structures.
- Avoid mounting directly next to other RF antennas.
- Do not mount inside the cab.
- Do not run antenna cables alongside other electrical harnessing, especially high-power circuits.
3. Mount the gateway enclosure to the cab using ¼" or 6-mm fasteners with a torque of 30 in-lbs.
4. Torque the antenna terminations to the gateway RF SMA connectors with a torque spec of 8.5 +/- 2 in-lbs.
Ensure that the gateway and antennas follow the separation distances specified in Table 5 of the instruction manual to comply with FCC part 1.310 and ISED RSS-102.
