To properly install the Home Depot ECD50V-HDC Cast Iron Submersible Sump Pump, please follow the instructions provided in the user manual. Here are the installation requirements outlined in the manual:
1. The pump must be connected to a separate 12 A circuit breaker or 12 A fuse block. Plugging into existing outlets may cause low voltage at the motor, leading to blown fuses, tripping of motor overload, or a burned-out motor. If in doubt, it is recommended to call an electrician.
2. Verify that the voltage and frequency of the pump shown on the nameplate correspond to those available on the mains. The electrical system must be grounded in accordance with code.
3. The pump should not be used with an extension cord and the plug and connection should be protected from water splashes.
4. Before using the pump, visually inspect it, especially the power cord and plug. Do not use the pump if it is damaged. If the pump is damaged, have it inspected by an authorized service center.
5. Ensure that electrical connections are protected from flooding and that the plug and power cord are protected from heat or sharp edges.
6. The power cord must be replaced by qualified personnel only. The plug of the power cord has a double grounding contact for proper grounding.
7. The pump has a built-in thermal protection switch that stops the motor if an overload condition occurs. The motor will restart automatically after it has cooled down.
