To connect the LANCOM AirLancer Surge Protector to your WLAN system, follow these steps:
1. Connecting to the access point:
- Connect the protected section of the SurgeProtect directly to the antenna connector of the access point.
- If you are using a LANCOM indoor access point, you can use the Air Lancer AN-RPSMA-NJ adapter (available as an accessory) for the connection.
- When mounting the access point outdoors, ensure that the xxxx connections are waterproof. You can use teflon tape or self-vulcanizing tape to provide a secure seal.
2. Connecting to the antenna:
- Connect the end of the antenna cable to the N-jack of the AirLancer Surge Protect.
- Connect the other end of the antenna cable to the antenna itself.
- Depending on the type of connector, you may require an adapter or adapter cable.
- Ensure that all connections to the antenna are water-resistant xxxx connectors. Use teflon tape or self-vulcanizing tape to provide a secure seal.
3. Grounding the AirLancer SurgeProtect:
- The SurgeProtect must be grounded to conduct any overvoltages away to the building's earthing system.
- Connect the earthing ring and cable lug supplied with the SurgeProtect to a suitable earth cable.
- The grounding method depends on the installation:
- For indoor access points, the potential load is equalized via the building's grounding line using a PE cable (protective-earth cable, min. 4 mm² Cu).
- For outdoor access points, connect the ground of the access point and the ground of the SurgeProtect via the protective-earth cable (min. 6 mm² Cu) of the pole or antenna, such as through the antenna mounting clamps.
