To install the Hayward W3SP3215X20XE XE Series TriStar Ultra-High Efficiency Variable Speed pump, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the power to the pump is turned off before starting the installation process.
2. Place the pump in a suitable location near the pool or spa, ensuring that it is level and stable.
3. Connect the union connector kit (SPX3200UNKIT) to the pump inlet and outlet ports. Use the included nuts, connectors, and gaskets to secure the connections.
4. Attach the pump strainer housing (SPX3200A) to the union connectors, ensuring a tight fit. The strainer housing has drain plugs that should be installed to allow for easy maintenance.
5. Install the strainer cover kit (SPX3200DLS) onto the strainer housing. This kit includes the strainer cover, lock ring, and O-ring. Make sure the O-ring is properly seated to ensure a watertight seal.
6. Place the strainer basket (SPX3200M) inside the strainer housing, ensuring that it is properly seated.
7. Install the diffuser xxxx (SPX3200Z8) onto the diffuser (SPX3200B3) using the diffuser O-ring (SPX4000Z1) for a secure fit.
8. Attach the diffuser assembly to the pump housing, ensuring a tight fit.
9. Use the impeller xxxx (SPX3200Z1) to secure the impeller ring (SPX3021R) onto the impeller (choose the appropriate impeller based on the desired horsepower - SPX3207C for 1.25THP, SPX3210C for 1.85THP, or SPX3215C for 2.25THP).
10. Install the housing O-ring (SPX3200T) onto the seal plate (SPX3200E). Ensure that the O-ring is properly seated.
11. Attach the seal plate to the pump housing, ensuring a tight fit.
12. If necessary, use the housing insert/seal plate spacer kit (SPX3200Z211) to adjust the spacing between the housing and seal plate.
13. Secure the pump assembly to the motor support (SPX3200GA) using the appropriate power end (SPX3207X10XEPE for 1.25 HP, SPX3210X15XEPE for 1.85 HP, or SPX3215X20XEPE for 2.25 HP). Follow the instructions provided with the power end for proper installation.
14. Optional riser bases (SPX3200WF or SPX3200SR) can be used to align the pump with a Pentair WhisperFlo pump if desired.
15. Use the motor support adapter (SPX3200Q2) if needed to properly align the motor support with the pump assembly.
16. Install the shaft seal assembly (SPX3200SA or SPX4000SAV) onto the motor shaft, ensuring a tight fit. The SPX4000SAV shaft seal assembly is made with Viton for enhanced durability.
17. Double-check all connections and ensure that they are tight and secure.
18. Once the installation is complete, turn on the power to the pump and test its operation. Monitor for any leaks or abnormal noises.
