To properly install the FVCO SP1001B Step Extension, please follow the steps outlined in the installation guide provided. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Before beginning the installation process, inspect the product for any damage incurred during shipping. If there is any damage, contact the customer service department immediately.
2. Familiarize yourself with the package contents and hardware by referring to the provided inventory list.
3. Gather all the tools required for installation, including a 7/16 box wrench or socket, Philips head screwdriver, and an impact driver or drill.
4. Start by positioning the floor support extension in the left corner of your step. Dry fit the flooring extension piece and trim piece to ensure correct positioning. Secure the floor support extension to your stock plastic step using four #8 x 0.625 flathead drilling screws in the pre-drilled holes.
5. It is important to align all the pre-drilled holes throughout the installation process. Dry fit multiple times to ensure proper alignment.
6. Bolt the wood flooring extension and support bracket together using three 6-32 x 0.625 flat head Phillips drive screws and 6-32 nylon insert locknuts. Snug them down and proceed to the next step.
7. Lay the assembled flooring extension on top of the floor support extension. Insert two 6-32 x 0.625 flat-head Phillips drive screws in the indicated locations to ensure alignment of the pre-drilled holes.
8. Ensure that the flooring extension sits flush with the floor of your van. Using an impact driver, xxxx three #8 x 0.625 flat head drilling screws in the holes of the support bracket into the sheet metal of your step.
9. After securing the support bracket to the sheet metal of the van, finish securing the flooring extension to the floor support extension using the remaining 6-32 x 0.625 flat head Phillips drive screws and 6-32 nylon insert locknuts. Tighten them down to prevent squeaks in the floor.
10. The last step is to xxxx down the trim piece using #6 x 0.375 flat head undercut Phillips drive screws. Ensure the trim piece is butted up tight to the extension on all faces and fits appropriately with the trim and body pieces of your van before screwing it down.
Please note that if you have installed additional flooring on top of the stock flooring of your van, longer screws may be required to secure the trim piece down. The holes are spaced for a #6 flat head xxxx (stainless preferred).
