To install the KOGEL Sram Red and Force eTap AXS Oversized Derailleur Cage, follow these steps:
1. Shift the derailleur to the lowest gear or the largest cog position. Secure the bike in a stand and remove the chain.
2. Remove the rear wheel.
3. Remove the derailleur.
4. Remove the pulleys.
5. Remove the back cage.
6. Remove the rotation stop pin from the front cage.
7. Use the Kogel eTap AXS tool to remove the front cage. Loosen the bolt 1 1/4 turn.
8. After loosening the bolt, unwind the spring tension, then remove the bolt completely.
9. Keep the mounting bolt and spring aside to be reused.
10. Disassemble the Kolossos oversized cage starting with the stop pin.
11. Release all bolts on the backside and disassemble.
12. Use the front cage to reset the position of the clutch system in the derailleur body. Line up the D-shape on the pulley cage with the D-shape inside the derailleur body.
13. Once secure, set aside the cage. Use a felt tip pen to mark the flat edge. Place a mark on the rounded face identifying the edge that's flat.
14. Reinstall the spring in the derailleur body.
15. Install the front cage. Align the spring with the center hole to set the recommended tension. Use the forward hole (near the rotation stop pin) for higher spring tension and security on rough terrain. Use the backward hole for the lowest possible friction on a smooth surface.
16. Install the nut and tighten it a few revolutions, less than finger tight.
17. Load the spring tension by pivoting the front cage clockwise around the center nut one revolution.
18. Align and engage the D-shape, then tighten the nut to 6Nm. Check if the cage and clutch move freely for operation.
19. Install the rotation stop xxxx and tighten it to 3Nm.
20. Install the pulley wheels, making sure the "U" indicates the upper pulley and the "L" indicates the lower pulley. Mount them on the frame with the "U" and "L" facing outward.
21. Install the back cage using Loctite on all bolts. Torque setting should be less than 1Nm.
22. Install the derailleur back on the bike.
23. Install the rear wheel.
24. Install the new chain over the small ring and smallest cog. The chain length is correct if there is minimal tension on the cage.
25. Adjust the derailleur position, upper and lower limit, and b-tension as per Sram's instructions.
26. Adjust the B-tension by ensuring the gap between the largest cog and the upper pulley is the same as Sram's recommendation for the standard cage. The Sram-supplied gauge may not fit the oversized 14-tooth pulley. Refer to the manual for the recommended gaps between the top of the pulley and the largest cog for each cassette size.
