To activate the Bosch CDR software, you will receive an email from Bosch with an attached .CTF file and instructions for activation. Follow these steps to activate the software:
1. Install the current version of the Bosch CDR software. You can download the software and user manual from the Crash Data Group website.
2. Open the CDR software and review the CDR Help File. Go to Help > Bosch CDR Help. The Help File contains a comprehensive getting started guide and tutorial for first-time users. It also includes information on vehicle and cable look-up, collecting data, using collected data, software menu selection, toolbars, and a glossary of terms.
3. Install the USB-to-Serial driver program. You can find the link to the most current version in the Help File. Simply search for "USB" to locate the driver.
4. Set up and register the CDR 900 VCI (Vehicle Communication Interface). Launch your CDR software and select "How to Setup and Register CDR 900" from the "Register a CDR 900 Device" option in the "Setup" menu.
5. Practice using the CDR Tool on supported vehicles. If your car or a friend's car is supported (check the Help File for compatibility), you can try using the CDR Tool even if there is no crash data or recorded events. This will help you familiarize yourself with the process and generate a CDR report.
For additional support and resources, you can visit the Crash Data Group website or check out the Crash Data Group YouTube channel for videos on using and setting up the Bosch CDR Tool.
