Before applying the anti-slip coating, it is important to properly prepare the surface. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Tape off the desired area: Use the provided ¼” Vinyl Contouring Pre-Tape to mark off the area where you want to apply the non-slip coating.
2. Sand the surface: Use 220- or 320-grit wet sandpaper to sand the surface until it becomes dull. This step ensures proper adhesion of the coating.
3. Mixing the coating: Shake the base well before mixing. Mix 4 parts base to 1 part hardener. The working time for the mixture is approximately one hour, depending on the temperature.
4. Thinning (if necessary): If the coating needs to be thinned, reduce the ratio to 8 parts base to 1 part temperature-rated reducer.
5. Applying the coating: Use an enamel type paint roller to apply a moderate coat of the mixed coating onto the surface. Continue applying coats until the desired coverage consistency and texture are achieved.
6. Removing tape and curing: After applying the coating, remove the tape and allow the coating to cure for 12 to 24 hours.
