Sure! Here are the step-by-step instructions for setting up and operating the SWAN-MATIC C400 Air Operated Capping Machine, based on the provided manual:
1. Carefully unpack the capper and check for any damage.
2. Place the machine on a level surface.
3. Remove the red fill plug located on the top left rear of the capper head and add two quarts of Gear Oil (P/N C095) into the housing through the fill plug hole.
4. Attach the proper-sized driver shell with a rubber insert on the lower end of the clutch and fasten it securely with the provided wrenches.
5. Connect the capper to a ½ inch airline.
6. Open the main air valve.
7. Run the capper for several minutes at room temperature to lubricate the mechanism. The capper should run smoothly and easily.
8. Check the alignment of the container cap to the insert and adjust the capper height so that the container cap just contacts the insert. This is done by loosening the column locking handle and rotating the adjustment handle.
9. Slide the backstop assembly up against the container and tighten it.
10. Rotate the spindle until you can remove the container. Readjust the capper height down 1/8 to 1/4 inch to allow for over travel and securely tighten the column locking handle.
11. Adjust the clutch to set the desired torque. Hold the clutch cap and loosen the center lock ring. To increase the torque, turn the lower clutch section into the clutch cap. To decrease the torque, back the lower section away from the clutch cap. Once the desired torque setting is achieved, tighten the center lock ring to retain the setting.
12. Periodically inspect the oil level in the capper head housing to ensure sufficient lubrication. The high oil level should be 2 3/8” from the top edge of the housing.
13. If needed, replace the spindle oil seal following the provided instructions in the manual.
14. To reduce driver insert wear, adjust the clutch as described in the manual.
15. For maintenance, it is recommended to disassemble the clutch every six months, clean it, and apply lithium grease to the clutch lining.
