To assemble and install the FVC SP1102B Sprinter Side Steps 144, please follow the steps outlined in the installation guide provided. Here is a summary of the installation process:
1. Inspect the product for any damage incurred during shipping. If there is any damage, contact the customer service department.
2. Familiarize yourself with the package contents and gather all the required tools listed in the guide.
3. Assemble the side steps by sliding a bayonet into the rear weldment and loosely thread in two 1/4-20 x 0.75 button head hex drive screws. Slide the weldment together and attach the joining bracket with two 3/8-16 x 1 serrated flanged hex head screws. Repeat for the other side.
4. Install 3/8-16 x 0.75 button head hex drive screws and 3/8 xxxx bonded sealing washers in the thread holes on the bottom side of the steps to seal them from water and the elements.
5. Mark the locations to mount the hanger brackets using the front jack point as a reference. Install the hanger brackets by driving in four 1/4 x 0.75 hex head drilling screws. Drill pilot holes for the screws that go through the pinch seam if necessary.
6. Attach the side step assemblies to the hanger brackets, sandwiching a bracket spacer between each hanger bracket and the side step. Apply blue Loctite to all the 3/8-16 x 1 serrated flanged hex head screws and tighten them down.
7. Install 3/8-16 rivet nuts into the body on the passenger side. Attach the passenger side braces using a bracket spacer between each brace and the side step. Apply blue Loctite to the 3/8-16 x 1 serrated flanged hex head screws.
8. On the driver side, drill holes to install the rivet nuts. Bolt up the driver side braces and mark the hole locations on the body structure beams. Drill pilot holes and then drill out with a 17/32" bit. Install the rivet nuts and attach the driver side braces using a bracket spacer and blue Loctite.
9. Insert the remaining 1/4 x 0.75 hex head drilling screws into the upper portion of the hanger brackets.
10. Double-check all fasteners on the steps and brackets to ensure they are tight and secure.
Please note that this is just a summary, and it is important to refer to the complete installation guide for detailed instructions and diagrams. If you have no mechanical experience or are not familiar with the installation procedures, it is recommended to have the product installed by a professional installer or other qualified persons for everyone's safety.
