To install the HINKLEY 2200 Cape Cod Small Wall Mount Lantern, follow these steps:
1. Find a clear area in which you can work and unpack the fixture and glass from the carton.
2. Carefully review the instructions prior to assembly.
3. Start by preparing the mounting strap (A) by threading the 1" xxxx (C) into the center hole of the mounting strap (A), approximately 1/4" - see Drawing 1.
4. Attach the mounting strap (A) to the junction box (J) using two screws (B) (not provided).
5. Before proceeding with electrical connections, read the wiring and grounding instructions (I.S. 18) and any additional directions. Turn off the power supply during installation. If new wiring is required, consult a qualified electrician or local authorities for code requirements.
6. Make electrical connections from the supply wire to the fixture lead wires. Connect the positive supply wire (typically black or the smooth, unmarked side of the two-conductor cord) to the positive fixture lead with an appropriately sized twist-on connector. Connect the negative supply wire (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to the negative fixture lead. Refer to Drawing 1 or 2 for visual guidance.
7. For indoor fixtures, connect the positive and negative supply wires as described above. Please refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections.
8. For outdoor fixtures, connect the positive and negative supply wires as described above. Cover the open end of connectors with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal. If installing a wall mount fixture, use caulk to seal gaps between the fixture mounting plate (backplate) and the wall. This will help prevent water from entering the outlet box. If the wall surface is lap siding, use caulk and a fixture mounting platform.
9. For flush mount fixtures, fasten the fixture ground wire (typically copper or green plastic coated) to the fixture mounting strap with the ground xxxx . On straps for xxxx -supported fixtures, first install the two mounting screws in the strap. Any remaining tapped hole may be used for the ground xxxx .
10. For chain hung fixtures, loop the fixture ground wire under the head of the ground xxxx on the fixture mounting strap and connect the loose end of the fixture ground wire directly to the ground wire of the building system with appropriately sized twist-on connectors.
11. For post-mount fixtures, connect the fixture ground wire to the power supply ground with an appropriately sized twist-on connector inside the post. Cover the open end of the connector with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal.
