To install the , follow these instructions:
1. The alarm must be installed by a competent person who can follow the instructions provided.
2. Determine the appropriate location for the alarm. Alarms located in the same room as a fuel-burning appliance should be placed at a horizontal distance of between 1m and 3m from the potential source. The alarm should be located on the same side of a partition as the potential source and at the high side of the room if sloped ceilings are present.
3. If the alarm is installed on a wall, it should be placed close to the ceiling, at a height greater than any door or window, and at least 150mm from the ceiling. If the alarm is installed on the ceiling, it should be at least 300mm from any wall or ceiling obstruction, such as light fittings.
4. Additional alarms may be installed in remote rooms where occupants spend considerable time while awake and may not be able to hear an alarm from another part of the premises. Alarms should also be installed in every sleeping room.
5. In caravans and boats, the alarm should be installed in the same room as any fuel-burning appliance, following the same guidelines mentioned above. If the caravan has a single living space, one alarm is sufficient. However, any separate sleeping accommodation should also have an alarm.
